Driving Operations

This course is designed for current or prospective drivers in the road transport industry. Key skills outlined include vehicle responsibility, safety and fatigue management and transportation of goods from supplier to supplier or supplier to vendor. Drivers can operate in urban, regional and long-haul delivery routes in a range of vehicles.

You will develop skills such as:

• Fatigue management strategies

• Plant and equipment monitoring

• Industry Codes of Practice

• Environmental sustainability

• Preparation and processing of workplace documents

• Occupational health and safety

• Transport industry induction

*Upon completion of selected program, receive one of the following: Light rigid or Medium rigid
truck license.

• Line Haul Driver
• Local Heavy General Freight Driver
• Interstate Driver
• Commercial/Light/Medium/Heavy

Participants should have a genuine desire to seek employment.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but all participants must attend an interview prior to acceptance into the course. Sound basic reading and writing skills and an ability to participate in some of the manual handling and lifting may be required in the course.
